Reality Winner was a former American intelligence specialist. She was given the longest sentence ever for the unauthorized release of government information in relation to Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections. Through a dramatic recreation of her initial interrogation, Reality is a quiet thriller that asks us to question the truth.
With dialogue taken from genuine transcripts of the aptly named Reality’s arrest, Reality is adapted from the verbatim theatre performance created by writer-director Tina Satter. The Berlinale breakout film is a unique take on the true crime genre which centres around a show-stopping, stripped back performance from Euphoria’s rising star Sydney Sweeney.
F-Rating: Written and directed by Tina Satter, adapted from her play "Is This A Room", starring Sydney Sweeney.
Our screenings of Reality are brought to you in partnership with Reclaim The Frame and feature a pre-recorded Q&A with director Tina Satter.
