ShAFF2018: Bike Packing Films @ The Void PG
Pedal - 8min
Forty-three countries down, Hera Van Willick rides her bicycle across continents, fully self-supported. This is her journey and what she has learned along the way.
Foodless Odyssey - 11min
The Foodless Odyssey has been a longtime dream of Pro mountain biker Matt Hunter. The idea is to bike-pack through hundreds of kilometers of wilderness on the remote Island of Haida Gwaii, living entirely off the land. The rules were simple, we would carry all the survival tools we needed to bike, fish, hunt and camp. but absolutely no food. Everything we would consume for the weeklong journey would have to be harvested from the land.
Waiau-toa Odyssey - 12min
Three adventurers, a film-maker and a photographer set off on a 6 day, 300km unsupported journey. By combining new bike-packing and pack-rafting technology, they link together white-water rivers and backcountry tracks through some of NZ's underappreciated wilderness areas. To add to the drama, only months before a massive earthquake changes their plans and reveals opportunities to explore new landscapes in ways done never before.
Aspirations Of The Pamirs - 52min
In the remote Pamir mountains, in Central Asia, three friends want to show the viability of an ambitious bike concept, designed buy young French crafstmen and made out of bamboo. Besides climbing peaks close to 6,000m, they meet men and women who have decided to take on another kind of challenge : innovate to perpetuate local culture and win back their autonomy. Since home and up to top of Tajik mountains, their adventure engage ourselves to wonder about the sense and the responsibility of our actions.
