From The Ash 4 minutes

When shooting action sports I always try to inject a broader theme, something that connects deeper then what the athlete is doing on the surface. For me the core of this project revolves around the idea of pushing forward when the world seemingly crumbles around you. That even when the road ahead may look bleak, to push on, to put one foot in front of the other. Charles Bukowski has this quote I like, “what matters most is how well you walk through the fire”. 2020 was one of those years that has shown that a lot of hardships in life are often events that are totally out of our control, that the only real control we have is how to decide to pick up the pieces, how we carry on through hardship. In a weird sense of irony, the struggles of making From The Ash, made me truly practice what I am preaching. We had multiple struggles with weather forcing expensive reshoots and as we went into post production the pandemic hit. This caused a major sponsor to dropout as their factory had to close due to COVID and left me to personally finance a large part of the project while also under the financial distress of not working due to COVID. There were so many times the completion of this project literally hung on by a thread and often I wondered if it was really worth it to push past the obstacles and complete it. Ultimately the answer is “yes it was worth it”. The struggle of making this film has made me grow in ways that in the end has helped me become better at my craft. Many years ago I was filming in a forest that had recently been scorched by a wildfire. As we were filming, a low fog rolled in and enveloped the forest. It was one of the most haunting and striking scenes I had ever seen. There was something so graphic about seeing these blackened trees silhouetted against this cold monochromatic backdrop. It stuck with me, for a lack of a better word I was haunted by it and always wanted to recreate the feeling it gave me, 15 years later I was in New Mexico to film From the Ash. Even though the underlying theme of this project is about perseverance, at the forefront is the destructive power of wildfires. In May of 2018 the Ute Park wildfire burnt 36,740 acres; a large swath of it was on the Philmont Scout Ranch. Thank you to the Boy Scouts of America for allowing us to film on location at Philmont. Everything was shot in a controlled setting on private land during the winter in a recently scorched wildfire area. The crew was under the supervision of forestry professionals to ensure everything was executed safely. There wasn’t a single live tree touched throughout our entire production. Thank you to the men and women who put their lives at risk fighting real wildfires around the world. Please be responsible this wildfire season.

Keep Busy 2 minutes

During the recent pandemic we were instructed to stay in quarantine and limit our social contacts, which left many people on their own. Yet there is a big difference between being ALONE and being LONELY. In a way, this strange times, where also an opportunity to rediscover yourself and do the things we usually do not have time for. Keeping busy and being out in the nature always calms our inner fears and opens up different, more positive channels in our brains. So keep pushing, keep dreaming, keep creating, keep smiling and most importantly, KEEP BUSY! The video was made during quarantine of 2020, in the mids of movement restrictions, thus the whole project is made in municipality of Kranj. All artists joined the project on voluntary basis, as an answer to cancellations and losing work in the arts, musical and also sports industries. In the style of the video itself, everyone included wished to “keep busy” and joined forces in hope that the project inspires the viewers to do the same!

My Flip'n Wife 2 minutes

Kaylee was introduced to mountain biking during college but only borrowed bikes occasionally and returned them often broken. Later in life she was able to rectify and replace those parts from her poor college days but it was during that time period that she discovered that she had a natural talent for the sport and was hooked. Although her passion for the sport grew and she would often dream about pursuing a career in the sport, the timing wasn't right, she also had other life goals she wanted to accomplish and her riding took a backseat for many years. During this time, she married her best friend, moved to Canada, and started a family. As time went on, this dream seemed less and less likely, as she wrestled 3 young children. In 2017 she moved to Whistler reigniting her passion for riding, and she decided that she wanted to work towards becoming a sponsored freeride mountain biker. She figured the first step in accomplishing this goal should be doing a backflip, on a full suspension mountain bike, in natural terrain. This is something only a very select group of female riders had accomplished at the time. This film documents the first backflip to dirt she ever did. It was a 27 foot, lip to landing, backflip on a full suspension bike. Since then she has picked up several sponsors, competed in different slope style like events, and continued to add new tricks to her quiver. She still recovering from a broken ankle, but her riding has finally reached a level where she is in the process of making a web edit and then pursuing funding for a full feature length film featuring her and directed by her husband, Ryan Gibb (Creator of the movie Life Cycles).

Natural Mystic 3 minutes

Natural mystic, an original concept that sees Sam Favret's mind-blowing performance filmed entirely by drone.
Come aboard for three minutes of thundering skiing through the Aiguilles Rouges of Chamonix, no gimmicks or tricks and no music. Instead, the sound of the elements takes pride of place for full immersion into the tracks of this local Chamonix rider.
This year, the challenge was to make the film as pure as possible. We filmed exclusively with drone, sometimes with 2 drones simultaneously, to work on a permanent aerial point of view. It puts us in the eye of a bird that flies over every run of Sam.
The other will, was to use only ski sounds, no music, to stay close to the action, to give it that immersive side to the film.
A real search for the high and contemplative moment.

Pathfinder - Life Beyond Fear 10 minutes

Pathfinder is a tale about the human spirit. The film follows six world-class slackliners (Highliners) on a mission deep into the Norwegian mountains to attempt something that's never been seen before: Walking a thin line, elevated in the vastness between two colossal cliffs, illuminated only by the mystical northern lights. The yearning that drives adventurers and explorers to climb the highest peaks, sail endless oceans, and cross vast deserts in the name of progress, is the same passion that drives these slack-liners to attempt what has still been unclaimed. Through the extreme conditions and endless challenges, we learn about their elemental desire to explore the limits of humankind.

Slacklining has long been a male-dominated realm — but the sport is a natural fit for women, requiring grace, stillness and a fine measure of control and relinquishment.
