109 Below 14 minutes
A tale of resilience, grit and elite rescue volunteers going out of their way to save the lives of strangers, 109 BELOW traces how an attempted rescue on Mount Washington in 1982 changed not only the course of two climbers’ lives - but also the lives of the rescuers who attempted to save them, and the future of prosthetics, forever. Just a four hour drive outside of Boston, Mount Washington is home to some of the most extreme weather on Earth. Winds regularly hit 200+ mph and in January 2021, at the time of filming, Mount Washington’s summit recorded a temperature of -109, the coldest ever recorded in North America. Despite its dangers, Mount Washington is a major attraction for hikers and skiers alike, and is readily accessible from nearby Boston. Each year, dozens of visitors attempt the summit – without realizing the true dangers they face. 109 BELOW explores the incredible - sometimes fatal - sacrifices made by the Mountain Rescue Service, an elite all-volunteer search and rescue crew on the summit of Mount Washington.
4DWN 17 minutes
4DWN tells the unconventional, and deeply personal story of a South Dallas skatepark whose mission is to change the lives of everyone that walks through the gate. The 4DWN skatepark is a resilience hub rooted in skate culture tackling head on the challenges of food insecurity and social justice in one of the city’s poorest communities. 4DWN is at once punk, irreverent, and authentic. But it’s also organic, nurturing, and profound. The magic of this skatepark-turned-urban farm is brought to life through a beautiful, intimate mixed media approach that pays homage to the canon of skate films that came before it. 4DWN chronicles the lives, both past and present, of the Park’s founders, as well as one budding young skateboarder who finds kinship, camaraderie, and a reason to keep pushing.
Here, Hold My Kid 39 minutes
A ski comedy film chronicling two professional female skiers who are trying to embrace new motherhood without missing a turn in their heart-stopping athletic careers. The two women, who are competitive by nature as they’ve built their professional status on podiums and award winning film segments, can’t help but develop a competitiveness with each other in the quest to becoming “the mom that can do it all.” From the pressures we bring upon ourselves to societal expectations, the characters will come at it with a hilarious, sometimes bordering on ridiculousness, take. With babies and husbands in tow, these two mothers are taking the ski industry by storm in a way that was never quite seen before. From exhaustion to laughter, discomfort to fun, this will be a movie to which anyone can relate regardless of their athletic prowess. The heart of this film is an homage to all the parents who have dragged their kids to the mountains “because skiing is a great way to spend time together."
ELLADJ 6 minutes
A glimpse of the remarkable Elladj Baldé, a Canadian figure skater who found his voice and fan base through wild ice skating. The film centers on the transformative power of embracing one's passion over measurable results.
JAMIE 19 minutes
As a pioneering climber of the 1970’s, Jamie Logan quietly ticked off first ascents on some of North America’s most treacherous climbs. But looking death in the face on the side of the mountain was nothing compared to the secret Jamie held that threatened to shatter her entire world. It was a secret so terrifying that Jamie stayed silent for over 60 years. Jamie Logan — the tough, dominant, successful climber and architect — wanted to live as a woman. At age 69 Jamie announced to her wife and four grown children that she was going to begin transitioning into the person she had always wanted to be. Now, as a 76 year old woman, Jamie has more love and connection than ever before. Her climbing community has deepened, her relationship with her wife has transformed (for the better!), and her sense of self has never been so stron
