It’s 1910, and as another summer rolls in, the peculiarly
bourgeoise Van Peteghem family retire to their coastal villa in Northern France.
But when a pair of bumbling detectives arrive to investigate a string of
missing tourist cases, their attention is drawn to the Van Peteghems and a
penniless local family - the Bruforts - and things get more and more bizarre…
Nominated for 9 César Awards in France, including Best Director, Best Actor and Best Film, Slack Bay is a witty and eccentric romp filled with stylised slapstick and biting social satire. Guillaume Deffontaines's widescreen photography is gorgeously sharp, with a hyperreal feel that counteracts the crude wit and grotesque performances.
