Snow Leopard 15
On the Tibetan plateau, a herder is enraged that a snow leopard has killed nine of his rams. Vowing to kill it, he is opposed by his brother, a monk, who believes he can communicate with the snow leopard.
Directed by the late Pema Tseden (Balloon), the first director from China to make films shot entirely in Tibet.
In this, his last film, a local television producer wants to shoot a show about the mysterious snow leopard, assisted by a former schoolmate, a monk who believes that he understands the leopard and speaks to it subconsciously. But the monk’s brother wants to kill the animal, as it has slaughtered nine of his best rams.
Beautifully capturing the complicated relationship with nature and society on the Tibetan plateau, Tseden’s film is a sweeping and magical look at life in this desolate region.
