Summer Holidays at Showroom Cinema

As the long school holidays approach, and you’re looking for something to fill your days, away from phones and tablets, look no further than Showroom Cinema.

Our 11am Family Time screenings continue every Saturday as part of Sheffield Film Festival, with The Railway Children, Robin Hood, The Princess Bride, and Mary and the Witch’s Flower for just £5! The festival also features a special screening of Wallace and Gromit's The Wrong Trousers with a live brass band. Our weekly programme is packed with new releases and old classics that will entertain all ages, so there’s no excuse for an “I’m bored!” to be heard.

Our most anticipated film of the summer is the brand-new animated adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s Kensuke’s Kingdom, releasing on 2 August. Morpurgo, known for beloved modern classic War Horse, published this story 25 years ago, but its messages about war, the environment, and togetherness, remain as important as ever. Written for the screen by Children’s Laureate Frank Cotterill Boyce (Millions), and featuring the voices of Sally Hawkins and Cillian Murphy, we know we are in safe hands with a beautiful, thought-provoking film that the whole family will enjoy.

Also on 2 August, a classic animation returns to the cinema. Recently transformed into a magical stage production, Studio Ghibli’s My Neighbour Totoro is back on the big screen. The perfect summer holiday film follows two sisters who must move to the countryside to be near their sick mother. What they find next door is otherworldly and unexpected! Unmissable on the big screen, Totoro will create a Ghibli fan for life out of any child (or adult) who falls under its spell.

For the first three weekends of August, we celebrate another legend. Sam Raimi’s original live-action Spider-Man trilogy, starring Tobey Maguire, swings onto our screens every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with a new weekly instalment to keep comic fans of all ages busy!

Finally, two films celebrate their birthdays at Showroom; from 15 August, the terrifyingly fun stop-motion Coraline turns 15 years old, with two special screenings for the occasion. From 16 August, nostalgic cult classic The Never-Ending Story has its 40th birthday all week long. Interest in the film recently was piqued following its appearance in Stranger Things, so why not join us on the adventure?

With general Family tickets from £20.50 and Family Time tickets just £5 every Saturday at 11am, we can’t wait to see your family at Showroom this summer! /family-films
