Superman (45th Anniversary) PG
Richard Donner’s landmark, influential superhero film, Superman, returns to the big screen in a glorious new 4K restoration to celebrate its 45th anniversary and the 85th Anniversary of the Superman character.
Just before the destruction of the planet Krypton, scientist Jor-El sends his infant son Kal-El on a spaceship to Earth. Raised by kindly farmers Jonathan and Martha Kent, young Clark discovers the source of his superhuman powers and moves to Metropolis to fight evil. As Superman, he battles the villainous Lex Luthor, while, as novice reporter Clark Kent, he attempts to woo co-worker Lois Lane.
Academy Award winners Marlon Brando and Gene Hackman head an all-star cast in the thrilling film that made Christopher Reeve an international star. Superman was nominated for three Academy Awards, including Best Film Editing, Best Original Score and Best Sound. The film also received a Special Achievement Academy Award for Visual Effects, and in 2017 was inducted into the Library of Congress National Film Registry.
