The opening night selection for the Toronto Film Festival,
The Death of Stalin is the eagerly-awaited comedy from acclaimed writer and
director Armando Iannucci (The Thick of It, In The Loop).
Adapted from the graphic novel by Fabien Nury and Thierry
Robin, this wickedly sharp satire is set directly before and after the death of
Joseph Stalin in 1953. Found unconscious in his office after a stroke, the
ensuing scramble for power among Stalin’s inner circle is captured expertly
through Iannucci’s signature dry wit and masterful use of the most colourful aspects
of the English language. An all-star cast including Jeffrey Tambor, Jason
Isaacs, Steve Buscemi and Andrea Riseborough make this one film you do not want
