French Film Festival: The Divide 15
The Divide is screening as part of our French Film Festival collection; a trio of films highlighting women in French cinema.
Two women Raf and Julie, a couple on the verge of breaking up, find themselves in an emergency ward bordering on collapse on the evening of a Parisian yellow vest protest. Their encounter with an angry and injured demonstrator, will shatter each person’s certainties and prejudices. Outside, the tension escalates. The hospital, under pressure, must close its doors.
Catherine Corsini directs The Divide at breakneck pace while mixing devastating humour with emotion that underpins where it hurts.
This screening will include a special introduction by Professor Julia Dobson, a specialist in French Cinema at Sheffield University.
Please note: This is a special screening with an introduction - there will be no trailers or adverts before the film begins. The event will start at the time stated so please plan your arrival accordingly.
