The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society 12A
Mike Newell of ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ fame directs the immensely popular historical novel from Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows.
We follow a writer, Juliet, played by Lily James (‘Downton Abbey’, ‘War and Peace’), as she forms an unexpected bond with the eccentric residents of Guernsey. She is introduced to a book club, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - whose passion for fiction kept them going through the Nazi occupation of the Channel Islands - and decides to write about their history. A stunning love letter to the world of literature, and the power of books to bring people together to provide refuge in our darkest times.
