The Handmaiden 18
The latest offering from celebrated South Korean director Park Chan-Wook (Oldboy, Stoker) is a visually captivating adaptation of the Sarah Waters novel ‘Fingersmith’. Set in 1930’s Japan and Korea, The Handmaiden sees a con-artist and a pickpocket team-up to go undercover as a wealthy Count and maid, working together to steal the wealth of a beautiful young heiress - Lady Hideko. Fans of Park will not be disappointed with this return to his usual form; dynamic plot punctuated with lurid twists come to life in this sumptuous psychological thriller that is sharp in its exploration of female sexuality.
