The Journey 12A
We are on the verge of something the wider world will applaud but our own people will hate. After decades of violence in Northern Ireland, world leaders met in Scotland to negotiate peace, and success depended on two sworn enemies: Timothy Spall is Ian Paisley, Protestant leader and head of the Democratic Unionist Party, and Colm Meaney is Martin McGuinness, chief negotiator for Sinn Féin and former member of the IRA.The Journey re-imagines the peace process, charting a fictional car journey made by the two in the middle of the talks - allowing Paisley to attend his 50th Wedding Anniversary and the two men’s armour to soften.
