The Middle Man 15
Cult director Bent Hamer (O’Horten, Factotum, Kitchen Stories) returns with his unique style of black comedy and combines the macabre with mirth in The Middle Man.
Frank Farrelli lives in Karmack, a small town in south-west USA. Frank is in his thirties but still lives with his mother after losing his job at the railway station when it was closed down. The town of Karmack has no jobs to offer, nor a future prospect for its residents.
With its decreasing population and bad economy, Karmack is governed by the Sheriff, the Doctor and the Pastor – the so-called Commission – who run the town as best as they can. But with strange deaths starting to occur, the Commission sees no other option than to employ a Middle Man to convey painful messages to bereaved relatives.
The disillusioned inhabitants of Karmack struggle to maintain dignity, as little by little the town’s characters come to expose their previously hidden lives.
