The Perfect Candidate

Celebrated director Haifaa al-Mansour, the first female filmmaker in Saudi Arabia to release a feature film (the brilliant Wadjda in 2012), returns with another powerful story, about a doctor trying to enter politics.

When Maryam – a successful and highly competent doctor - finds herself consistently failed by local officials, she decides to sign up to be a candidate in the city elections. Her family and community are swept up in the action as they struggle to accept their town's first female candidate.
