The Velvet Queen: Snow Leopard 12A
High on the Tibetan plateau, amongst unexplored and inaccessible valleys, lies one of the last sanctuaries of the wild world inhabited by rare and undiscovered fauna. Vincent Munier, one of the world's most renowned wildlife photographers, takes the adventurer and novelist Sylvain Tesson (In the Forest of Siberia) with him on his latest mission. For several weeks, they'll explore these valleys searching for unique animals and try to spot the snow leopard, one of the rarest and most difficult big cats to approach.
Marie Amiguet’s debut documentary is poetic and humane, with a contemplative approach that alternates between stunning landscape shots and the marvellous creatures that inhabit Tibet. The original score composed by Warren Ellis and featuring Nick Cave adds to the film’s philosophical spirit and the two adventurers’ reflections on the troubled relationship between humankind and the environment.
