The Words Are Coming: Spoken Word Open Mic
Join us at the Showroom Café Bar for our new monthly open-mic event where we’ll be hosting an evening of poetry, prose and creative non-fiction. Entry is free for all readers and for anyone coming down to watch.
We encourage writers of any background, profession or style to read their work with us on Thursday 28th November. Slots will be 5mins each and we hope to have around 14 readers on the night. To book a slot email Max at [email protected] and include the genre of your work, Prose, Poetry, or Non-Fiction. You do not have to send your work beforehand. Complete work is encouraged but we also welcome excerpts from longer stories, novels and plays.
If you’re not reading, we invite you down to the Café Bar to enjoy the work of our readers, have a drink, food or snacks, and make our writers feel welcome. If inspiration strikes, there will be paper and pens on the table for you to use. We hope you’ll share your enthusiasm for the work presented but for this event, we discourage direct feedback or suggestions. This is an opportunity for people who might not otherwise get to share their voice to present their work in front of an audience.
The words are always coming.
This will be a safe space for readers to share their work, and for customers to enjoy a communal evening of creative writing. We encourage writers from all backgrounds, but we will not tolerate hate-speech or any work that targets groups of people based on sex, gender, race or religion.
