Written and directed by Joel Coen, The Tragedy of Macbeth is a chilling, visually striking take on Shakespeare’s classic play.
Starring Denzel Washington as Lord Macbeth, and Frances McDormand as his ambitious, scheming wife, the story follows Macbeth’s attempts to become King of Scotland after receiving a prophecy by three witches.
Featuring an impressive cast and helmed by one of the most accomplished American directors working today, this adaptation is a stark and unique interpretation of the well-known story. The Tragedy of Macbeth features a score by long-time collaborator of the Coens, Carter Burwell and is shot in striking black and white and in a 4.3 aspect ratio, creating stark, expressionist visuals.
