Wings of Desire 12A
Wim Wenders Wings of Desire was digitally restored for cinema in 4K for its 30th anniversary. Now screening to show it in all its glory. Wings of Desire is not only worth watching for its technical mastery (by which it’s known for combining black, white and colour transitions), surprising story and beautiful cinematography but also because it so vividly captures the German capital as it once was. The story follows an angel Damiel (Bruno Ganz) watching over Berlin and offering blessings of hope to the distressed but never interacting with them. Until Damiel falls in love with lonely trapeze artist Marion (Solvieg Dommartin) which makes him long to shed his ethereal existence and experience the wonder of physical life.
