Wonderstruck PG
Todd Haynes returns with a stunning adaptation of Brian Selznick’s ‘Wonderstruck’. Ben and Rose are two children who come from very different worlds but have much in common. Both hearing impaired and desperately unhappy, they dream of better things.
In 1977, Ben’s life has been turned upside down by the death of his mother, leaving him all alone in the world. He stumbles across a note that might lead him to his absent father, and quickly sets out on a journey to New York to find him. Meanwhile, 50 years earlier, we meet Rose, a shy young girl obsessed with silent movie star Lillian Mayhew. Also living with a neglectful father, Rose decides to make her way to the city in the hopes of finding her idol. Both Rose and Ben find themselves drawn to the American Museum of Natural History, where their paths magically cross…
Starring Julianne Moore, Michelle Williams and a breakthrough performance from deaf newcomer, Millicent Simmonds as Rose, ‘Wonderstruck’ is a beautiful and imaginative film that will sweep you away with its warmth and charm.
