Girlhood 15
From acclaimed director Céline Sciamma (Tomboy, Waterlillies) this film is an exploration of friendship and identity within a group of young, black girls growing up in the outskirts of Paris. Mariamme, weighed down by family responsibility, academic disappointment and the male-dominated society she inhabits, is taken in by three fiercely confident and utterly devoted friends. Together, the gang are simultaneously terrifying and the best friends you can ever imagine having.
