The Entertainer PG
From one of the greats of Britain’s ‘Angry Young Men’
movement, John Osborne; Look Back in Anger is adapted to a different
setting and transported to 1960s
Morecombe. As the age of Music Hall
fades away, so too does the talent, fortunes and scruples of Archie Rice
(Laurence Olivier). A fantastic portrait
of a man’s demise, and the subsequent collapse of his family, due to his
reluctance or perhaps his inability to change.
Three generations of family are at odds as alcohol, adultery and war
combine to create an untenable situation where something’s got to give.
