In the sprawling mega city of Delhi, the dangers of climate change are present, not future, for 30 million inhabitants fighting to survive. Toxic air pollution is the third biggest killer in India – more deadly than smoking or terrorist attacks.
In this film we see a snapshot of Delhi’s severe pollution from patients in hospital gasping into oxygen masks, to streets engulfed in brown smog or toxic white foam bobbing along a river. Through stunning imagery and accounts from everyday citizens, Invisible Demons takes an urgent look at the climate crisis through the eyes of those living in one of the world's mega cities.
What the film demonstrates is the environmental injustice of India’s economic growth, and how the poor are bearing the brunt.
Screening as part of the Climate Realities season, in partnership with Sheffield School of Architecture at the University of Sheffield. The film will be preceded by a short introduction.
