Showroom Festival Season

It's been a long, emotional, and uncertain six months since we closed our doors. The constant support from our audience has been a source of much-needed warmth, and we are delighted to be opening once again on Friday 18 September.

While we won’t be physically tearing your tickets for a while, we will be filling the screens with new releases, classics, and under-appreciated gems, just like before. We are also looking forward to bringing back some of the festivals and special screenings that were affected by the shutdown, along with some exciting new programmes, too!

As part of our autumn programme we are thrilled to announce that we will be a part of this year’s London Film Festival (LFF), which will see a veritable feast of hugely anticipated previews, screen at select cinemas across the country, between 7 to 18 October. The festival will open with Steve McQueen’s Mangrove and close with the latest film from God’s Own Country director Francis Lee’s, Ammonite. Chloé Zhao’s Nomadland, which recently won top prize at the Venice Film Festival, will also be showing.

World-renowned documentary festival, Doc/Fest, will be running a scintillating selection of four weekender events, with several films showing across Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, every fortnight, from 2 October. As to be expected with Doc/Fest, the incredible programme running in the Showroom and online includes 40 films (full-length features and short films), spanning 20 countries around the world and representing 17 spoken languages.

The Sheffield Adventure Film Festival (ShAFF), which usually takes place in March, will be returning for a series of one-off screenings throughout the autumn, staring at the end of September. Every year, the team at ShAFF handpick the best adventure, travel, and extreme sports films from around the world for you to explore the great outdoors from your cinema seat - and this year is no exception.

Our final festival, the annual spooky slasher fun of Celluloid Screams will be going ahead from Thursday 22 to Sunday 25 October. The full programme will be announced next Friday, so keep an eye on our social media and website for ticketing information.

All events and screenings taking place at Showroom Cinema will adhere to strict social distancing in line with up-to-date government guidelines. Visit showroomworkstation.org.uk for full information on the measures we will be taking to keep our staff and audiences safe, as we enjoy the magic of the cinema once again - together.
