We’re Updating Our Memberships – Here’s What’s Changing and Why

For over 30 years, Showroom Cinema has been more than just a place to watch films. It’s been a space to connect, to reflect, to celebrate the magic of cinema — and for many of you, it’s been part of your weekly or monthly rhythm for decades.

We know how much this place means to you. And that’s why we want to talk openly about some important changes.

A New Chapter, With the Same Values at Heart

In May, we’ll be moving to a brand-new Box Office system. Our current system has served us faithfully for many years, but it's now outdated and increasingly unreliable — making it difficult for us to support you in the way we’d like to.

This change isn’t just about technology. It’s about looking ahead, making sure Showroom can continue to operate efficiently, sustainably, and with care for our customers.

As part of this transition, we’re also updating our membership structure. We’ve taken this opportunity to simplify what we offer, improve the benefits, and make the experience easier — especially for those who visit us often.

What’s Staying the Same?

The spirit behind our memberships — and our deep gratitude for your support — hasn’t changed. We remain:

• A registered charity, working to bring independent film to as many people as possible

• A place rooted in Sheffield’s cultural landscape, proud to serve this community 

• A venue committed to being welcoming and affordable, especially for those who need it most 

Your membership doesn’t just give you discounts — it directly supports our work. 

What’s New? 

From Friday 2nd May, our new membership options will be (full breakdown on benefits at bottom of this page): 

Cine26 - Free (ages 16–26) - Young audiences 

Supporter - £20/year - Visitors who want to support us 

Standard - £40/year - Regular cinema-goers 

Superior - £60/year - Our most frequent attenders 

Flex - £4.99/month - Monthly option, cancel anytime 

These new packages offer clearer benefits, including: 

• Free cinema tickets 

• Free birthday ticket 

• £1 off every ticket (Standard & Superior) 

• 10% off food and drink in the café 

• No booking fees 

• And for some tiers, priority booking and 40% off MUBI 

Already a Member? We’ve Got You Covered 

If you’re already a member, there’s nothing you need to do. You’ll automatically move over to our new Standard membership. 

If you’ve renewed in the last 3 months, we’ll be adding two complimentary cinema tickets to your account as a gesture of thanks for your loyalty. 

If you’re currently on a "+1" membership, it will continue until it runs out — after which you can choose a new option that works best for you. 

And If You’re Not Ready Just Yet... 

We completely understand. You can still sign up to our newsletter for updates, discounts, and events — no pressure at all. 

We also want to reassure you that April’s ticket prices will remain in place until 1st May, giving you time to settle into the change.
