Alone in Berlin 12A
The mission is the message in this noirish wartime thriller. It’s Berlin 1940 and the city is full of fear. Nazi propaganda screams victory over France. A working-class couple broken by the death of their son at the front begin a small skirmish of dissent against the war machine. As small acts of subversion, they write and disseminate anonymous postcards with anti-Nazi slogans, ‘tiny pieces of revolutionary grit’ across the city’s claustrophobic buildings and streets. At the heart of the Reich, the risk is huge and soon the Gestapo is hunting "the threat". A stoic tribute to resistance and the power of people against all odds.
