Believe PG
Inspired by true events,
Believe takes us back to Manchester, 1984 where legendary football manager Sir
Matt Busby is still trying to come to terms with the loss of his promising
young team in the 1958 Munich plane disaster – until an act of petty crime
leads him to cross paths with Georgie, a spirited working-class kid.
In his efforts to track the youngster down, Matt discovers the Georgie’s extraordinary talent for football and the wayward yet gifted team that he captains. Sensing their potential, Matt comes out of retirement for one last challenge: transforming the boys into a team capable of winning the Manchester Junior Football League Cup and helping Georgie achieve his dream. This will be no easy feat, especially with Georgie’s mother determined for him to gain a place at the local grammar school.
Winner of the ‘Best Children’s Film’ award at Zurich Film Festival, this touching story of friendship and hope teaches audiences of all ages that “if you believe, you can score with your eyes shut.”
