Showroom 30th Birthday: Brassed Off + Live Performance by Unite the Union Brass Band 15
Showroom Cinema marks its 30th birthday on 15 March with two special screenings of Brassed Off. Mark Herman's award-winning comedy is a Showroom favourite, not least because lead actor Pete Postlethwaite officially opened screens 3 & 4 in 1998.
Filmed entirely on location in Yorkshire, Brassed Off is the story of a community struggling to survive when its chief industry is closed down.
Personal and public dramas reveal the extraordinary resilience of the people and the instinct for survival which keeps their spirits up in the face of hardship. It is also a love story between father and son, between boy and girl and between man and music.
The film will be followed by a live performance by Unite the Union Brass Band.
