A Festive Affair at Showroom Cinema this December

As Sheffield turned chilly from its first blast of snow, out came a shout down Paternoster Row. “Come one, come all, for some good festive cheer, a bounty of films on at Showroom this year.”

With Kermit and Gromit and a magical train, with a barefooted cowboy who’s named John McClane. You can sit down for lunch or a night at the opera, but it doesn’t all rhyme, so I’ll finally stop, yeah?

That’s right, we’re celebrating the seasons at Showroom Cinema, with festive screenings for all ages.

Four fantastic films, The Muppet Christmas Carol, It’s A Wonderful Life, The Holdovers and Die Hard, return to the big screen on the 20th, playing all week up to Christmas.

They are joined by solo screenings of 2000’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas (14th), and Aardman animated shorts A Grand Day Out + The Wrong Trousers (15th), and A Close Shave + A Matter of Loaf and Death (22nd). All Wallace and Gromit double bill tickets are £5.

For kids, seats are selling out for the last two screenings of The Snowman, with live music from Unite Union’s Brass Band (8th), all tickets £8 while Santa drops in via video link to introduce The Polar Express (14th) and The Muppet Christmas Carol (21st). For these Family Time specials a £12 ticket comes with a cookie, hot chocolate and a video introduction from the North Pole.

There’s a chance to catch The Royal Ballet’s outstanding production of The Nutcracker (17th/24th). Or, for more of a live show, join local sensation Emma Maezin for a special festive Drag Bingo night (17th).

We’re sprinkling some magic on our Christmas Eve lineup with screenings of Wicked.

Our popular Early Doors programme offers coffee, cake and a cinema ticket, all for £8, to over 55s.

Throughout December, we’ll also have Early Doors Christmas lunches after screenings on the 5th, 12th and 19th of December. Get two courses and a hot drink for just £16 per person. If you join us for Amy Adams’ wickedly funny new drama Nightbitch (12th) you can also catch a Frank Sinatra tribute act in our Café Bar, ahead of the screening.

Finally, on New Year’s Eve, party like it’s 1999 with a one-off, 40th anniversary screening of Prince’s classic Purple Rain.

And have a very happy holiday, from everyone here at Showroom Cinema!
