The Japanese archipelago. 20 Years in the future. Canine saturation has reached epic proportions. An outbreak of dog flu rips through the city of Megasaki. Mayor Kobayashi issues emergency orders calling for a hasty quarantine. Trash Island becomes an exiled colony: The Isle of Dogs. A daring rescue is in order - one very special dog, Spots is among those banished. He belongs to a boy called Atari. Against all odds, Atari must set out on a mammoth quest to bring him home (with the assistance of a pack of newly-found mongrel friends) and undertake an epic journey that will decide the fate and future of the entire Prefecture.
