Family Time: Isle of Dogs PG
As part of our new weekly Family Time series, explore more of the wonderful world of Wes Anderson with his second stop-motion animated feature, Isle of Dogs.
In the fictional Japanese city of Megasaki, an outbreak of canine flu sees all dogs banished to the appropriately named “Trash Island”. 12-year-old Atari (Koyu Rankin) endeavours to rescue his beloved dog, Spots, by embarking on an adventure involving a stolen plane and a gang of talking strays (featuring a star-studded cast such as Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Bill Murray and Jeff Goldblum). Along the way he meets teenage political activist Tracy (Greta Gerwig) and the pair team up to protect the local dog population.
Following on from his previous critically acclaimed foray into animation, and inspired by his love of Japanese cinema - especially the work of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli - Isle of Dogs is another stylish, offbeat comedy from the inimitable Wes Anderson for the whole family to enjoy.
Isle of Dogs is rated PG, as it contains mild threat, violence and some bad language. For fans of 101 Dalmations, Wallace and Gromit, and My Neighbour Totoro.
Family Time screenings feature subtitles and low-level lighting for accessibility and comfort for all. Please find more information about Family Time here.
