Lawrence of Arabia PG
Lawrence of Arabia, a sweeping historical epic directed by David Lean in 1962, depicts British officer T.E. Lawrence’s role in the Arab Revolt during World War One. Lean's masterpiece, completed as the sun set on the British Empire, movingly captures both Lawrence's love affair with 'Arabia' and Britain's imperial division of the Middle East, the results of which live on in contemporary political conflict.
Dr Miles Larmer is University Lecturer in African History at the
University of Oxford. He has written extensively about African political
history, mainly Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Dr Larmer will
introduce the film and lead a discussion after the screening.
