Following their unforgettable performance alongside The Blues Brothers and Dirty Dancing, Sheffield funk and soul music legends Highway Child return to Showroom Cinema to present Irish soul music classic, The Commitments. Irish soul music classic, The Commitments. The band will follow a screening of the film with a live setlist of classic songs inspired by The Commitments soundtrack.
Directed by Oscar-nominee Alan Parker, The Commitments follows young and ambitious music fanatic, Jimmy Rabbitte, a working-class kid with big dreams of breaking into the music industry. Jimmy decides to start on the path to greatness with a seemingly impossible task: bringing soul music to working-class Dublin.
With an unforgettable soundtrack of soul classics including Mustang Sally, Take Me to the River, Chain of Fools, Try a Little Tenderness and In the Midnight Hour, The Commitments is one of the greatest musical films and this will be a night of soul music not to be missed.
Tickets are £17 and include entry to the film screening and live performance by Highway Child.
