Showroom Classics: Top Hat U
While rehearsing in a hotel suite, showman Jerry Travers
(Fred Astaire) annoys the woman sleeping in the room below (Ginger Rogers) with
his incessant tap-dancing. However, when he meets her to apologise, romantic
sparks fly.
Set in 1920s London and Venice, and featuring stylish Art Deco sets, this fun
mistaken-identity musical showcases the iconic song-and-dance performances of
the two legendary stars to the celebrated music of Irving Berlin.
This nearly 90-year-old romantic comedy remains fresh, charming, and “In short,
perfection.” (Kevin Maher, The Times)
