Tove 12A
Tove follows the life of ground-breaking artist Tove Jansson, who created the internationally beloved Moomin books. A sensuously textured film shot entirely on 16mm, celebrating the life of a remarkable woman.
Helsinki, 1945. The end of the war brings a new sense of artistic and social freedom for painter Tove Jansson. Modern art, dizzying parties and an open relationship with a married politician, she lives an unconventional, but fulfilling life, always seeking liberty and adventure.
At her first solo exhibition, Tove meets theatre director Vivica Bandler and their attraction to each other is electric. A passionate love affair ensues, which nourishes Tove’s creativity and soon her most famous creation takes the world by storm.
