Young Programmers Festival 2024: Attack the Block 15
“Inner city vs Outer space”
We’re kicking off the night with a Sci-Fi comedy that would struggle to have as much charm if it was made today, Attack The Block was chosen thanks to its unmistakable London aesthetic.
This B-movie from the early 2010s may be one of the better and overlooked ones from the previous decade, which shocks you with its display of gore and thrilling deaths contrast with it’s night-time action- taking a slight new perspective of the ‘anything-goes’ nature of films set in one night.
Starring a young John Boyega, who takes his first role in a feature with such a lead man energy that you see try be replicated in films following this. Along with this we have an unlikely team up with a pre-Doctor Who Jodie Whittaker, with the inclusion of the hilarious drug dealer, Nick Frost.
The fantastic and fun chemistry between the ensemble cast alongside the film’s witty writing further compliments the movie's existing qualities and achieves a feel of distinction that ensures one film will not blur into the next. Start the evening with a display of 2010s nostalgia and fun to ease you into the ultimate feel of The Warriors
Part of our Young Programmer film season - A Night To Remember
