Blue Jean + Reclaim the Frame Post Film Discussion 15
Jean, a PE teacher is forced to live a double life. When a new student arrives and threatens to expose her, Jean is pushed to extreme lengths to keep her job and her integrity.
We have collaborated with Birds Eye View for a #ReclaimTheFrame screening which will be accompanied by a post-film discussion, hosted by Birds Eye View Director, Melanie Iredale, and joined by Sarah Squires and Heather Paterson.
Sarah Squires, current Leeds Beckett University PE teacher, was an educator during the years of Section 28 and one of the women who inspired Blue Jean’s central character. Sarah advised on scripts, costumes and authenticity as filmmakers drew on her own story.
Also joining us is Heather Paterson, CEO of LGBTQ+ youth charity SAYit, column writer for Exposed Magazine and occasional DJ and performer under the stage name Anna Kissed, Heather is an advocate and trailblazer of the Sheffield LGBTQ+ community.
Blue Jean will be presented with Descriptive Subtitles (SDH) and the post-screening discussion will have live captions.
Reclaim the Frame brings a wider perspective of the world by championing cinema by women and non-binary filmmakers. Run by Birds’ Eye View, a charity with a mission to advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion in film.
