Inspired by an unbelievable true story, a strait-laced professor discovers he has a hidden talent as a fake hit man. He meets his match in a client who steals his heart and ignites a powder keg of deception, delight, and mixed-up identities.

Co-written by and starring Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick, Anyone But You), Hit Man is a whip-smart and laugh-out-loud funny thrill ride that oozes with chemistry as Powell and Adria Arjona collide. Richard Linklater (The Before Trilogy, School of Rock, Dazed and Confused) brings his famously versatile directorial expertise and in Hit Man makes the most electric romantic thriller since Out of Sight and the funniest hitman comedy since Grosse Point Blank. That’s high praise.

Hit Man is loosely based on a true crime article I read almost twenty years ago in the Texas Monthly. The film is attempting to hit a lot of notes—comedy, noir, thriller, psychological study—while examining most of all the concept of identity and how fixed our personalities may or may not be.” – Richard Linklater.
