The Paiva family are shattered when Ernesto is abducted by the military junta and Eunice (played both by renowned Brazilian actor Fernanda Montenegro and Golden Globe Best Actress 2024 Fernanda Torres) must lead their family and fight for justice.

Salles’ adaptation of Marcelo Rubens Paiva’s 2015 memoir is a profoundly moving portrait of resistance – the intelligent and humane kind of cinema we have come to expect from the director of Central Station and The Motorcycle Diaries.
