Young Programmers Festival 2024: La Haine 15
Based on real events, La Haine follows three friends over the course of one day in the housing projects of Paris, in the aftermath of a riot. With tension in the air and the police on constant surveillance, it’s not long before prejudice and hostility turn to violence, with tragic consequences.
Part of our Young Programmer film season - Look How Far We’ve Come
The paramount motivation of this programme is to use film as a form of activism, designed to educate its audience about the perpetual burden carried by so many immigrant and working-class communities residing in the UK.
The title “Look How Far We’ve Come” achieves duality by way of representing the literal geographical distance that immigrants have travelled, whilst also posing the question of how far has society really come in its acceptance and tolerance for newcomers?
Please note - there will be no trailers before this film! Instead there will be an introduction by our Young Programmers, so do please arrive on time.
