Martin Eden 15
A fresh, unconventional adaptation of the 1909 Jack London novel of the same name, Pietro Marcello’s latest is a film of passion, politics, romance and tragedy – a new Italian epic.
After stepping in to save a young man from being beaten, Martin Eden whisked into the world of the elite class, where he falls head over heels for the daughter of a wealthy industrial family. Determined to win her affections, he resolves to elevate himself to her families social standing. But his individualistic pursuit of social mobility is at odds with his roots, and as he finds himself falling in with socialist circles, a political reawakening has him grappling with his desires.
