When her young son Minato starts to behave strangely, his mother feels that there is something wrong. Discovering that a teacher is responsible, she storms into the school demanding to know what's going on. But as the story unfolds through the eyes of mother, teacher and child, the truth gradually emerges.
From acclaimed Japanese director and Palme d’Or winner Hirokazu Kore-eda (Shoplifters, Broker) comes another heartfelt and humane slice-of-life that shows the hidden lives if every day Japanese people.
In Cannes the film won the Best Screenplay award, whilst the film’s score was created by legendary composer Ryuichi Sakamoto – the final one of his career before his untimely death a few months later.
