Family Time: School of Rock 12A
Struggling musician, Dewey Finn (played by the ever-loveable Jack Black), has been kicked out of his band. He sleeps on his best friend Ned’s floor, and he can’t afford to pay his share of the rent. Dewey’s immaturity has caused tension between himself and Ned’s highly strung girlfriend, who is ready to kick him out of the house.
However, when Dewey answers a phone call intended for Ned, he decides to pose as a substitute teacher to take a job at a prestigious private school to make ends meet. Whilst at first it seems to be a step away from his chaotic lifestyle, Dewey can’t resist following his calling, and he recruits his talented class of musicians to join him in taking part in a local Battle of the Bands.
Thinking they are taking part in a class project, the precocious kids start to learn less about math and more about rock. Despite initial reservations, their unusual new teacher helps them to learn how to stick it to the man.
Pledge allegiance to the band and celebrate the 20th
anniversary of this feel-good family comedy, beloved by all ages, at Showroom Cinema.
