Matthias Schoenaerts (A Bigger Splash, The Danish Girl) gives a quietly devastating performance in this bold, heartfelt redemption story executive produced by Robert Redford.
Roman, a violent convict in a rural Nevada prison, is sentenced to partake in a therapy programme as part of his state-mandated rehabilitation. Whilst there, he’s spotted by a no-nonsense veteran trainer who brings him into a selective wild horse training section of the programme. Here, Roman is tasked with taming an especially unbreakable mustang, with whom – gradually – he forms a profound bond.
A fearless exploration of masculinity, healing and redemption, and a very promising debut from French actor turned writer-director Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre.
