“Do you dig it?”

In a New York City overrun by gangs akin to “Armies of the night”, Coney Island’s “Warriors” are framed for the murder of an opposing gang’s leader and must fight their way home.

We chose The Warriors thanks to the sheer entertainment value it brings to the theme of films set in one night. The highly stylised depiction of the gangs featured and New York City itself are complemented by Barry De Vorzon’s eclectic soundtrack throughout to create audio-visual eye candy, creating an isolating and unique depiction of New York.

The distinct differences in the gangs and a number of key scenes present in The Warriors add a level of nuance to the film, which may have been relegated to a straightforward gang fantasy otherwise.

Part of our Young Programmer film season - A Night To Remember

A Night To Remember at the Showroom Cinema embellishes in the nocturnal atmosphere of the infamous ‘In One Night’ trope- where films span over the course of one crazy night. This creates an “anything-goes” motto, which makes the films all the more entertaining, uplifting the crowd and encouraging a fun evening to await.

Our film season is important to audiences as the two films chosen “Attack the Block” and “The Warriors” are uniquely interesting and entertaining movies in regards to the theme and will aid in eliciting our intended viewing experience , replicating a vibrant feel of night-time activities.

A Night to Remember ultimately aims to immerse attendees in a vibrant and fun atmosphere akin to a classic nostalgic movie night.
