The film documents life in the small Chilean town of Charrua, which sits next to a one of the largest power plants in Chile, distributing power to most of the country. We see wildlife captured on camera and children playing in the fields surrounding the plant which are criss-crossed by electrical pylons and cables. The power plant’s dominating presence provides a constant, static hum and the town is plagued by regular blackouts.
The power the plant generates is a threat to the local community, but the poor residents have no voice against those who control it.
Screening as part of the Climate Realities season, in partnership with Sheffield School of Architecture at the University of Sheffield. The film will be preceded by a short introduction.
This film has not been rated by the BBFC, therefore we cannot allow entry to those under 18.
