Sheffield Film Festival: Kes + Introduction & Book Launch PG
Showing as part of Special screenings & events
Showroom’s Sheffield Film Festival launches in August 2024 and features collaborations with local filmmakers, artists, and experts to showcase Sheffield’s unique and substantial contribution to UK film culture.
Kes is one of the launch events in the lead up to the festival with a spotlight on local expertise from The University of Sheffield’s Professor David Forrest whose new book on the film is released on 4 May.
The film saw director Ken Loach receive international acclaim for this enormously moving tale of a lonely working-class South Yorkshire boy, who turns from a life of comic books and shoplifting when he finds a baby kestrel and decides to raise and train it.
This screening will feature a special introduction by Professor David Forrest, author of ‘BFI Film Classics: Kes’.
