A 1920s English seaside town bears witness to a dark and absurd scandal in this riotous mystery comedy. Based on a stranger than fiction true story, Wicked Little Letters follows two neighbours: deeply conservative local Edith Swan (Olivia Colman) and rowdy Irish migrant Rose Gooding (Jessie Buckley). When Edith and fellow residents begin to receive wicked letters full of unintentionally hilarious profanities, chaos ensues: including a national outrage and a trial. However, as the town's women - led by Police Officer Gladys Moss (Anjana Vasan) - begin to investigate the crime themselves, they suspect that something is amiss.
Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley reunite after both receiving Oscar nominations for their work in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Lost Daughter, and one of the great joys of this film is seeing two of the industry’s finest trading verbal blow for verbal blow.
Early Doors: Sit back and enjoy coffee, cake and the big screen at Showroom Cinema for just £7 with a special all-in-one ticket for over 55s. This screening will feature subtitles as part of Subtitled Monday.
