Film Studies: Get Out 15
Peele’s widely acclaimed “social thriller” (as he terms it) follows Chris, a talented Black photographer, as he journeys to suburban upstate New York to meet his white girlfriend’s family, the Armitages. Over the weekend, Chris encounters the family’s peculiar Black servants and their even stranger wealthy friends. Chris learns the hard way that supposed white liberalism sometimes masks villainy as he fights to retain the rights to his body and mind. Will Chris realise the horrors that await him and get out in time?
